TOPS Knives TPHIM01 High Impact Survival Axe - Tactical Camping, Bushcraft & Outdoor Adventure Tool for Hiking, Hunting & Emergency Preparedness

USA made. Shaving sharp. Full tang. Micarta handles. 5+" of axe blade. This thing went through seasoned hornbeam "ironwood" like a dream. There is some cherry and some oak in its near future. At just over 3 pounds this is a beast. I love the handle design as it allows for full use of a two handed swing. The distance between hands and the axe blade is short but does not impact use. Just need to be mindful and exercise axe safety when using. The leather mask is top notch. I expect nothing less from Tops. This axe will process wood like crazy. It literally slices through the wood. Absolutely amazed and has made wood splitting a dream. My regret is that I did not purchase this sooner. This axe is no joke and should be in any bushcrafters arsenal of woodcraft tools. Not entirely designed for long treks unless others are involved to share the load. But I do know this....that this HIGH Impact Axe will go on many a trip and I will make allowances for it. I can see this as a great addition to a base camp or extended stay camp. For the home owner.....a no Brainerd. I have thus put the blade to cottonwood and "ironwood." The results were far greater than I could imagine. Expensive yes, but it will last a life time and could be handed down to the next. It has two lanyard holes at the base of the axe for lanyard safety as well as position points to attach to a pack. This piece of awesomeness is going to go into my wood splitting pack which is the Fjallraven Singi Stubben or the Fjallraven Singi 20. With the outer pouch attachments, this HIGH Impact Axe will be making many a journey with me into the great outdoors. Save your change and within a half a year you'll be swinging some HIGH Impact steel. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this axe and what bit brings to outdoors either in bushcraft, woodcraft, glanmping, Camping, off road camping, trail blazing, home outdoor maintenance and fire wood splitting. I have since asked Tops to consider a double bit version of this axe. I hope they consider it.
